In January 2020, Justin Roiland faced allegations of domestic violence and false imprisonment. Following the charges, Roiland appeared in court previously while he entered a plea of not guilty to the charges in the pre-trial of 2020.
According to the official verdict released on 12 January 2023, Justin faced one count of domestic battery involving physical harm and an additional count of false imprisonment. The accusations are concerned with the unnamed individual and publicly identified as Jane Doe. It is reported that both Doe and Justin were in a relationship at the time of the incident.
Soon after, Justin was declared “not guilty” due to lack of evidence. Meanwhile, Adult Swim and other production networks cut their ties with Justin.
Eventually, Roiland parted ways with the shows “Rick and Morty” and Adult Swim, even after being proven innocent. He expressed his gratitude in the official statement while expressing how all the negative allegations impacted his life negatively.
Who Is the New Voice of Rick and Morty?
Season 7 of Rick and Morty is on the door and will be launched on 15 October 2023. After cutting ties with Justin, Executive Producer Steven Levy said,
“We are closing in on the end of our process of the recast, but I do want to say it’s gonna be great.”
He further added that they cast new voices for both roles, and they are “sound-alikes.”
Furthermore, the details of the new voice actors are sealed, and they will only be revealed after the launch of season 7. An insider reported,
“We want the show to speak for itself. We believe in the strength of the season and our new voices and we want to preserve the viewing experience for fans”.
