Starfield, one of Bethesda’s best creations, has always been a game of surprises. It brought several intriguing features and a unique experience many gamers have never experienced, especially with space travel.
While that is to be expected, given that the game took five years to be developed, a new, exciting, yet confusing thing is in front of the players to tackle. Yes, we’re referring to Starfield’s New Game+ mode.

What Is Starfield’s New Game+ Mode?
If you have been playing Starfield for a while now, you may see the option of New Game+, and if you’re wondering what it is, we will confirm it.
Starfield New Game+ is a new mode that lets you play the entire game from the beginning again and again in a loop. While this may sound unbelievable, you can save the file and enter the New Game+ mode once you beat the game by finishing all the quests.
It will provide you with many new story permutations, options, dialogues, and at least a single main quest. That being said, there are also a few downsides, but they can be compensated for the thrilling experience you will have upon trying New Game+.
How To Access New Game+ in Starfield?
Once you get to Starfield’s final mission, “One Giant Leap,” the main quest will prompt you to make a choice: either begin your journey in an alternate universe as a Starborn or continue to explore the main universe as usual.
It is done after you finish the final mission and travel to Unity in order to witness all the endings. After arriving, if you choose to walk towards Unity, which looks like a gigantic shining Orb, it means you have chosen to play the New Game+ mode.
If you walk away from Unity and return to your ship, you can explore the existing main universe. However, that doesn’t mean you have lost your chance to access the New Game Plus. You can try it anytime you want, even after not approaching Unity for the first time.
What Are the Downsides of Starfield New Game+?
Imagine starting the game from the beginning in an alternate universe with all the connections and items you’ve acquired. It would be too much of a cliche, so that’s why Starfield decided to take everything from you, with the exception of a few things once you start New Game Plus.
The items you have obtained painstakingly, including weapons, spacesuits, digipicks, and even the crafted materials, will all be gone. Furthermore, you will also lose your outposts, so you can’t really have an edge starting the game in an alternate universe.
Add to that your depletion of saved credits and the star systems you have unlocked during your journeys, and you will be taking a considerable loss. It means you have to earn the credits from zero and revisit every planet in the alternate universe from scratch.
However, you will still be able to keep your experience, levels, powers, and skill points that you’ve progressively obtained. So, compared to the rewards and the gaming experience you will get in Starfield New Game+, it won’t be much of a loss.
What Are the Rewards Obtained Through Starfield New Game+?
From items to missions, your progression will be lost in certain aspects, and you will lose the relationship you’ve built with the NPCs, but the rewards are rather extravagant.
Upon rebirth as the Starborn in an entirely new alternate universe, you will wake up in a Starborn Guardian II ship. Although it may seem hard to believe, the ship is your first reward, which means you can now pilot a Starborn ship, unlike in the previous mode.
The second reward is the Starborn Spacesuit Astra, which comes in a full outfit set, including armor, a helmet, and a jetpack. So, you don’t have to equip other items anymore unless you want to try a specific defensive item.
Given all side quests, main quests, in-game interactions, and items you’ve obtained are lost, it may seem like New Game+ is not worth it, but if you want a unique experience after playing Starfield until the end of the main story quest, it is absolutely worth it.
