Star Wars’ Ahsoka has been one of the best TV shows this year, with the Ghost Crew from Rebels slowly reuniting on a grand adventure to locate Ezra, who disappeared along with the Grand Admiral Thrawn.
While every episode brought more tension to the screen, Episode 4 raised the stakes even further, pitting Ahsoka and Sabine Wren against Shin and Baylan to secure the map consisting of Grand Admiral Thrawn’s coordinates.
At the end of Episode 4, Ahsoka fell off the cliff when Bayan overpowered her, dealing a decisive blow to her lightsaber. However, rather than falling into the ocean, she woke up in a place called The World Between Worlds which hinted that she might not be dead.
So, is Ahsoka really dead in Episode 4? If she isn’t, what is the place that was shown before the credits rolled?
Did Ahsoka Tano Die in Episode 4?
Honestly, if Ahsoka Tano dies in her own show, the franchise wouldn’t be able to create further episodes anymore, so she isn’t dead. While it certainly hinted at her death as she fell right off the cliff, there are more reasons to believe she is alive than otherwise.
Upon waking up, Ahsoka hears the voice of Anakin Skywalker calling her, “Hey, Snips,” just like in the old days when she was still his Padawan. Since Anakin is no longer alive and is a Force ghost, it may seem like she has arrived in the same dimension as him.
This further solidifies their judgment of Ahsoka becoming a Force ghost like her teacher, Anakin, but there is another mystery behind the incident. Ahsoka Tano is currently in the World Between Worlds, a place outside the confinements of space and time.
What Is the World Between Worlds and How Ahsoka Can Get Out?
Although World Between Worlds is a place that you cannot simply enter as you wish, seeing Anakin appear in this realm, there is a strong theory that we can come up with.
In Star Wars Rebels, a similar incident occurs where Ezra Bridger saves Ahsoka’s life in season four by pulling her into the World Between Worlds. When Darth Vader and Ahsoka dueled inside the Jedi temple, the temple eventually blew up.
If it wasn’t for Ezra, Ahsoka couldn’t have survived that predicament. So, the question is, who pulled Ahsoka into World Between Worlds in Episode 4 of the live-action series?
The only viable solution that makes sense is Anakin Skywalker, even though a Force ghost saved Ahsoka at the last moment before she fell further down the cliff. While it may cause some confusion among the fans, Force ghosts can indeed influence the physical world.
For instance, Obi-Wan Kenobi and Master Yoda have all done this in the prior movies, as in Return of the Jedi and The Last Jedi. So, it is entirely possible that she is, in fact, saved by Anakin Skywalker.
While Ezra and Ahsoka returned from World Between Worlds from a portal in Star Wars Rebels, it is not the same case this time, so it is still challenging for Ahsoka Tano to leave the realm.
Considering Dave Filoni, the current writer of Ahsoka, is directing the next episode, we expect him to come up with a sensible theory on how she can return to the galaxy from World Between Worlds.
