The early days as a student are something that everyone wishes to go back to. While some are over that stage where he or she would have to get permission from their teachers, they were surely golden days.
As a student, everyone has been hesitant to ask for bathroom breaks during the lecture or any important discussion. With fear of being scolded, the student does ask the teacher as they would eventually reject.
Now, everyone wonders if it was really right for the teachers to deny our requests. However, taking permission to go in and out of the class was a systematic rule and an integral part of the school’s regulations.
A class teacher is responsible for maintaining the decorum of the class, and he or she can allow students to allow or not allow bathroom breaks. Hence, they can say no to students to use the bathroom only if the students don’t have any medical condition.
Is There Any Rule Or Law For Teachers To Allow Students To Go For Bathroom Breaks?
So far, there is now as such law that allows teachers to allow students to use the bathroom or go in and out of their classroom. All the rules and regulations are made by the educational institutes, and the teachers, as well as the students, have to abide by them.
Students will have to get permission from their teachers to go out and use the bathroom. It is a systematic procedure that has been in place to ensure that classrooms are run in an orderly fashion.
The process also ensures that a teacher knows how many students are present in the classroom.
However, upon being requested, the teachers do allow them to go out of the class for bathroom breaks. The reason comes after the assumption that the student is abusing the privilege or if there is a legitimate reason to believe that the student is engaging in inappropriate behavior.
Is Using The Bathroom A Human Right?
While schooling days are not rebellious for many, students are not aware that using a bathroom is their human right. According to the human rights to water and sanitation, these services must be available, accessible, and affordable and must ensure the safety and privacy of the person, irrespective of their age using them.
Teachers do understand the consequences of denying students who want to use the bathroom. But because of this, some students simply ask to go to the bathroom for other reasons besides actually using it.
