Choosing between Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y has been putting Pokemon Go players in a dilemma, and we are here to help you make the correct decision.
Unlike most Pokémon’s, Charizard has two Mega Evolution forms, X and Y. Both are powerful mega-evolutions, but only one can stand at the top.
Yet, if you look at their stats, a clear winner emerges, that can be crucial to win.
Is Mega Charizard X or Y Better?
While both Mega Charizard X and Y are powerful evolutions, Mega Charizard Y takes the prize in the competition. The Y mega evolution of Charizard has a much higher attack stat and more max CP capacity than its X counterpart.
Mega Charizard X has a much cooler look and might sweep the board in a design contest, but in terms of power, it has a few downsides. Look at the stats below to understand the major differences between Mega Charizard X and Mega Charizard Y.
Stats | Mega Charizard X | Mega Charizard Y |
Attack | 273 | 319 |
Defense | 213 | 212 |
Stamina | 186 | 186 |
Max CP | 4354 | 5037 |
Mega Charizard Y is superior by 45 points in terms of attack. Both have almost the same defense and stamina stats, but the max CP holds a huge difference. Mega Charizard Y defeats X by 683 points in the Max CP category.
Mega Charizard X Abilities and Weaknesses
The special moves of Mega Charizard X include Dragon Claw, Fire Blast, Overheat, Flame Thrower, Blast Burn, Frustration, and Return. Its quick air moves are Air Slash, Fire Spin, Ember, Wing Attack, and Dragon Breath. It has the Dragon Dance ability that compensates for the lack of speed and attack when compared to Y.
Mega Charizard X can withstand bug, steel, and electric-type Pokémons with 63% damage absorption. It is strong against fire and grass, with 39% absorption.
However, the form is weak against ground, rock, and dragon-type Pokémons, as it has a 160% damage absorption in such cases.
Mega Charizard Y Abilities and Weaknesses
Most of Mega Charizard Y’s special attacks are similar to X’s, but the damage per second is more due to its higher attack stat. Y can also use an additional Solar Beam and Drought ability.
Some ground-type moves like Stealth Rock can prove deadly for it. It is much faster than Charizard X, as the latter loses its flying trait after evolution. As flying-type Pokémon’s are faster, Charizard Y is a better choice in the category.
Thus, the clear winner is Mega Charizard Y, and any trainer who checks the stats will definitely choose it. However, Mega Evolution Y does not guarantee a win as it depends completely on the trainer’s skills.
So, now that you know which Pokémon Mega Evolution is the best, comment down below if choosing Y really helped you win.
