“During today’s game, we were made aware of the social media posts that are circulating regarding Wander Franco. We take the situation seriously and are in close contact with Major League Baseball as it conducts its due diligence.”
However, Ray’s manager Kevin Cash refused to comment on Franco sitting out on the game. The manager clarified that the decision was to get Franco “off his feet.” He adamantly stated that it was just a scheduled day off for the shortstop.
Cash also acknowledged the social media speculation but did not comment any further on it.
