Great news! Damar Hamlin has been given the green light to start playing again after suffering a heart attack during a game last season. The Bills’ general manager, Brandon Beane, announced this on Tuesday through their Twitter account. Beane shared that Hamlin had undergone a complete medical check-up and has been fully cleared to resume his regular activities.
He also mentioned that the player is in great condition and eager to return to the game. After a meeting with an expert on Friday, Hamlin received final clearance after already being approved by three different experts. We’re excited to see Hamlin back on the field!
Why Did Damar Hamlin Suffer Cardiac Arrest?
Hamlin’s sudden heart arrest, which he and his family did not disclose, was a shock to his fans and fellow players. He required resuscitation twice, once on the field and once at the hospital. During the first quarter of the Monday night game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Damar Hamlin, a safety for the Buffalo Bills, collapsed.
He was put under anesthesia to place a breathing tube down his throat, and upon arriving at UC Medical Centre, all his vital signs were reported as normal by medical staff. Soon the player started showing signs of recovery, and his fans were able to breathe a sigh of relief.
Who Is Damar Hamlin?
Damar Romeyelle Hamlin is a talented American football player. He plays as a safety for the Buffalo Bills in the National Football League (NFL) and attended the University of Pittsburgh for college football. The Buffalo Bills selected him in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL Draft, and he signed a four-year rookie deal with the team on May 21, 2021.
Hamlin started as a backup but became the starter after Micah Hyde’s season-ending injury in his first season. Recently, he took over as the starting safety for the team in 2022 when Micah Hyde suffered a neck injury that ended his season in Week 2.
