Huw was supposed to be on The One Show on July 6th but was substituted by another guest, causing more concern about his whereabouts. Edward’s wife has recently informed that the 61-year-old journalist is currently seeking medical help after being severely hit by depression.
Although the reason behind Edwarf’d depression still remains unknown, many have speculated that the backlash and harassment he has received over the years being a public figure has made his fight with depression more difficult.
Huw Edwards’s Illness Explained

Huw had earlier shared about his depression, stating that he has been facing mental illness since 2002. Sharing his experience, the veteran journalist even shared how it worsens at times, so much so that it makes him bedridden for days. Huw expressed in 2022 that he started boxing with lightweight champion Clinton McKenzie to help him deal with his depression.
Was Huw Edward Accused of Sexual Offense?
Last Friday, an anonymous, well-known BBC presenter was accused of some serious wrongdoing by The Sun newspaper. According to their report, the presenter had allegedly paid a young person up to £35,000 for explicit photographs.
However, after a thorough investigation, the Metropolitan Police found no evidence to support these claims. Similarly, South Wales Police investigated a concern about the welfare of an adult in April, but they also found no wrongdoing.
After some speculating that the anonymous BBC presenter was actually Edwards, his wife made an official statement asking people not further to make things worse for them.
She informed the public of Edward’s declining mental health and even said that the journalist had been facing depression for the last couple of years, despite him continuing with his work.
Edward’s wife also said that the recent allegations against the veteran journalist have caused further harm to his crippling mental health, and hence has been hospitalized.
