John Mayer discovered his love for guitar after he watched Michael J. Fox’s guitar performance as Marty McFly in Back to The Future.
He was then introduced to blues music when his neighbor lent him a Stevie Ray Vaughan cassette. He got into Berklee College of Music, given his proficiency in electric guitar.
But he didn’t want to limit his musical pursuits to a single instrument, so he dropped out of college after two semesters. He then pursued a songwriting career in Atlanta. He formed a duo with his former classmate Clay Cook, performing at the local coffeehouse circuit. However, they parted ways soon after.
John then ventured into his solo career by repackaging the duo’s songs and compiling some of his own compositions in the self-released 1999 EP called Inside Wants Out.
John Mayer’s Phenomenal Career
His debut single, “Room for Squares,” went triple platinum, followed by his sophomore single, “Heavier Things,” swiftly climbing the Billboard Top 200 charts in 2003. Soon, his enticing voice garnered him Grammys for hit singles like “Your Body Is a Wonderland” and “Daughters.”
The Grammy spree continued with his 2006 album “Continnum,” earning him awards for Best Pop Vocal Album and Best Male Pop Vocal Performance. The album also peaked at number 2 on the Billboard 200.
He found his voice, which was a perfect concoction of rock, blues, and soul. He continued to deliver hits with albums like–

John Mayer, born on 16 October 1977, grew up in a humble household in Fairfield County, Connecticut. His father, Richard Mayer, was a high school principal, while his mother, Margaret Mayer, was a middle school English teacher. The two divorced on 11 February 2009 but remained close to all their sons.
John Mayer has an older half-sister, Rachel. He is the middle of three sons, with Carl as his older brother and Ben as his younger brother.
Carl hosts a trivia game show on Instagram called the $15 gameshow. He entertains his 12.8K followers on Instagram with various antics, which are quite hilarious.
Ben did pursue music, but only as a hobby. He has completely stayed away from the limelight.
