“Maybe that’s what Batman is about. Not winning. But failing, And getting back up. Knowing he’ll fail, fail a thousand times, but still won’t give up.” The saying perfectly captures Batman because it expresses one of his fundamental principles.

The bad guys can knock him down, yet he’ll always get back up; a man with such dedication can never be forced to stay down on his knees. Every time life knocks you to your knees, you get back up.

Life is not all sunshine and rainbows, and there’s a dark side hidden inside every person and every corner of the world. Dedication, commitment, and life with a purpose with every step and breath are how Batman lives, and it’s how we should live by – and this is the tale of a guy who has realized the dark side of our world.

My favorite fictional character is Batman from DC Comics. Two years ago, I wasn't a big fan of any comic book characters when I watched a few Marvel movies and DC movies. Still, since last year I have found myself deeply attached to Batman, and there's a reason for it.

The fact that he's a grounded character who has seen the world's reality and is sometimes tired of making sense of it all because of the tragedy where his parents got killed makes him relatable. And all these attachments came from the movie Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice.

I love how Ben Affleck portrayed the Batman role. It felt as if he defined what a broken, brute yet justice doer looks like. The line from that movie, "The world only makes sense if you force it to," gets me every time I listen or read it. Because that means that if you do not go against the wrong people/system, it will consume you as well.

I saw the Dark Knight Trilogy, but Batman V Superman and Zack Snyder's Justice League were the movies for me that defined what Batman truly is, like shaping the character from a brute, broken vigilant. Batman is actually inflenced by Superman in his life. Like how great it is to find a superhero to inspire another superhero.

A year ago, I went through a situation where I saw what the judiciary system is in my country, and that broke my heart. I mean, even if you haven't done anything wrong, you must surrender, bow down, or pay some ransom to prove your innocence.

I met a person six years ago whom I thought was my best friend, but only to find myself ignored by her now. This world never stops itself from proving how merciless and mean it is, killing the good side of a genuine person, telling that the good ones are the ones who can be hurt the most, which just makes a person think, "How many good people are left on this world," which even Bruce Wayne from Batman V Superman says.

So this is how I find myself related to Batman because he's that broken, helpless guy who sees no good in this world but is also the rage against injustice, trying to find some hope and protect the people around him.

Key Takeaways

#1 The Dark Reality

Bruce Wayne and his alter-ego, Batman, have witnessed countless deaths throughout vigilance -from the murder of his parents in front of his own eyes to holding Jason Todd in his hands before Todd breathes his last. Darkness changed Batman, anointing him.

The personal tragedies witnessed by Bruce made him the dark knight he is today. And like Rohit said, despite all these tragedies, Batman balances light and darkness.

Being the best version of oneself entails pursuing excellence on all fronts; It entails embracing all of one’s insecurities and fears, as well as any other human emotions, and using them as fuel, much like Batman does. Batman teaches us to use setbacks and victories as fuel to drive us toward greatness and break through all constraining barriers.

#2 The Broken World

You, I, and Bruce, all have the same 24 hours in a single day; the only distinction is in how we use that time. And during that time, cry, dance, play, study, work, cry, do all sorts of things – and no matter what, we have to keep moving forward. And what Rohit said is absolutely right; not just the judiciary, even the world is broken.

Nonetheless, Batman welcomes obstacles and problems because they make him stronger. After all, he always finds a way to conquer them, and we can do the same.

#3 To Rise, One Should Fall

It’s not easy to get up once we fall, and Batman has shown us countless times that getting back up is pretty much doable. The climb might be treacherous, it might be slippery, but it is inevitable for you to take the first step – that is, if you want to move forward.

“How many good people are left on this world,” no one knows the answer to that, but what I do know is that the person reading this is one of those few good ones left.

With a specialization in marketing, he has worked for various advertising agencies and helped in copywriting and content writing for start-ups and large-scale businesses. His first encounter with the pop culture surrounding anime was way back in the early days of high school when he stumbled upon a One Piece manga. And the rest was history, as binge-watching anime series and manga has become a norm for him, which sometimes leads to debates on the deepest depths of Reddit. You can catch him ranting about FIA rules, or if you want to break the ice, talk about comics, games, movies, and practically anything from geopolitics to automobiles; his attention is pretty easy to get. Happy reading and Sayonara!
