So, here’s what happened…
Curtis Dixon, a 60-year-old, was gifted $100,000 last month by Zach Dereniowski, aka MD Motivator, after helping him while thinking he was a blind man in need (Dereniowski in disguise).
Literally, the whole internet melted over Dixon’s kindness. I mean, the guy was pawning his wedding ring just to get his lights turned back on, yet still tried to give a stranger a couple of bucks. That moment turned into a global fundraiser that handed him six figures.

But then… the nightmare. Just weeks later, (specifically, on Sep 1), Dixon says he was kidnapped near Mt. Elliot & Nevada in Detroit. He claims he was beaten, driven to ATMs to pull cash, hog-tied, and left inside his SUV as it went up in flames. Witnesses found him alive, but barely.

Initially, the local police handled the case, but now the ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives) has taken over. They’re investigating possible arson, kidnapping, and extortion.
To make things even wilder, sources say Dixon’s story has inconsistencies. Now he’s in hiding while the feds try to untangle what really went down.
Dixon says,
“Even in my own neighborhood, people that don’t know me, knows me now.”
You know, this is exactly why some things shouldn’t be recorded. I think it’s pretty common sense. Older people tell you never to share your finances with family, friends, or coworkers, and that’s just normal people who day in day out work every day. Why would you broadcast it?
See, this is why I roll my eyes at influencer charity.
Some fault lies here with the YouTuber, but mostly, it’s the system we live in. I know MD Motivator’s the reason for the massive life-changing $100,000, but come on, why would he show Dixon’s face?
You could blur his face just enough to make the internet believe it’s really a stranger and not some staged person, and also protect the guy, too. But I guess these types of videos don’t work that way…
I know some of you might say, That’s America for you but it can happen anywhere. Also, the feds say there are inconsistencies in this story. Stuff like ATM withdrawals not matching his account. Also, Dixon is reported to be lying low at an unknown location, which raises questions like why now, after everything’s been taken from him? Is this for safety, or something else?
I hope he’s really in trouble and it’s not some shady drama because if he’s the victim, then the police and the internet will help him, but if he’s not, the same strangers who donated money will curse this man.
It’s like telling the entire poor neighbourhood that this random old weak guy won lots of money and expect people not to get their hands on him.
Still, if you’re thinking life is a fairy tale, rethink that perspective again…this is the reality. The world we live in is far more dangerous and messy than we could ever imagine.
The stupid system we live in makes unexpected fair money unstable. It draws out things like envy, crime, and suspicion. The sudden visibility and wealth invite danger faster than any government/protection can cover you.
I don’t know why it’s that way. Actually, I do know. The people with power and money don’t have to deal with it and have better things to focus on. So, they won’t change anything.
THE WHY here is EXPOSURE.
“Look, most of us want a normal life without any drama, but life in this world is always strange, and uncertain.
I don’t need your email. I don’t want to bug you with a billion notifications. All I ask is this, if you felt something here, if this made you think, laugh, or even shake your head in disbelief, just bookmark ‘Averagebeing.com’ and come back tomorrow.
That’s it. No strings. Just you, me, and this stupid world.”
