The U.S.-based department store chain Macy’s organizes the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade annually on the occasion of Thanksgiving in the city of New York. The parade, which is well-known for its row of enormous balloons that flies above Central Park West to Herald Square, ushers in the holiday season for many Americans.

The parade sees thousands of participants and is viewed by millions of viewers from all over. The parade is also hailed as one of the best in America. And this year’s parade is going to mark their 96th parade. And this year, among the line-up of their balloon parade, is none other than Son Goku!

Goku’s ballon first debuted in 2018, and it was all rave since then; after all, we don’t see Goku flying over the streets of New York every day. The balloon will also help promote the fan-favorite movie – Dragon Ball Super: Broly.

Macy’s describes the dimensions of the balloon below:

  • 56 feet tall or as high as a 5-story building
  • 70 feet long or as long as 12 bicycles
  • 36 feet wide or as wide as 7 taxi cabs

Jordan Dabby, the Macy’s Parade Group’s Vice President of Partnership Marketing, provided extensive information about the development of the Goku Balloon and how he differs from the other floats that were on display during the Thanksgiving Day Parade, and said, “Everything about him is different from the average character you see in the parade. Goku is distinct. His hair is distinct. It’s very challenging to take a balloon and make it human…he has this body definition that few characters have. When you get to aerodynamics, inflatable likes to be round. If we were to round out the spikes of his hair it wouldn’t look like Goku. A lot went into making sure his hair was as pointed as we can possibly get away with while making sure it still flies the way it should.”

Goku would be flying alongside other humongous 26 balloons in this year’s Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, including Pikachu and Eevee, The Smurfs, Snoopy, Grogu, and many more.

So, are you excited to see Goku once again at Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade? Which other Dragon Ball character would you like to see at the Macy’s parade? Will Vegeta be waiting at the parade to pop Goku’s balloon?

With a specialization in marketing, he has worked for various advertising agencies and helped in copywriting and content writing for start-ups and large-scale businesses. His first encounter with the pop culture surrounding anime was way back in the early days of high school when he stumbled upon a One Piece manga. And the rest was history, as binge-watching anime series and manga has become a norm for him, which sometimes leads to debates on the deepest depths of Reddit. You can catch him ranting about FIA rules, or if you want to break the ice, talk about comics, games, movies, and practically anything from geopolitics to automobiles; his attention is pretty easy to get. Happy reading and Sayonara!
