Donald Trump has issued a 9-word response to criminal referrals from a House panel.
The referrals were a symbolic move and do not obligate the DOJ to act.
The DOJ is conducting its own investigation into the Capitol riot.
Trump is the first former president in American history to be referred to the DOJ for criminal prosecution.
The House panel voted to refer charges for inciting an insurrection, obstruction of Congress, and conspiracy to defraud the U.S.
The panel's final report stated that Trump was the "central cause" of the riot.
Representative Liz Cheney sharply criticized Trump and called him "unfit for any office."
Four Republican representatives have also been referred to the House Ethics Committee.
Cheney has not ruled out a potential presidential run in 2024.
Trump has announced another bid for the White House in 2024.
He said, "...But Liz Chaney lost by a record 40 points!"
Cheney lost her GOP primary to a Trump-endorsed challenger but may not be out of politics yet.
