After a long wait, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is finally here but the film faces a difficult situation as it gets banned.
The Hollywood Reporter officially confirms that Doctor Strange 2 is not banned in Saudi Arabia due to a queer character.
According to the Middle East Reports, Marvel’s Doctor Strange 2 was banned due to the new America Chavez superhero.
In the comics, America Chavez is portrayed as a gay character and this is illegal across the Gulf.
Played by Xochitl Gomez, The censor board of Saudi Arabia demands editing out her character in the film.
As America Chavez plays a vital role in the movie, Marvel Studios denied it.
This resulted in the ban of Doctor Strange 2 in a few Gulf countries.
As of now, The advanced bookings for the film were also removed from several websites.
Fans in the Gulf have to wait for the two authorities to find a middle ground and release the film without any issues.
As of now, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, and Qatar were confirmed to ban Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
