Zach Bryan, the famous American singer-songwriter who made a major debut with his album American Heartbreak, has been making headlines since Friday, and it has to do with his interactions with law enforcement officers.
The singer, who grew up in Oklahoma, has been one of the most successful artists as of 2023, with his self-titled album reaching number one on US Billboard 200 and the song “I Remember Everything “making it to the number one spot in the US Billboard Hot 100.
On Thursday, Zach Bryan was arrested by Oklahoma authorities for obstructing the laws and interfering with the officer’s police duties. The same thing happened three days before because Brayan refused to give his address to the police officer who stopped him.
So, what exactly happened between Zach Bryan and the police officers who stopped him? And what did he do to get arrested?
Why Was Zach Bryan Arrested?
On Thursday evening, Zach Bryan was driving a pickup truck closely followed by his security guard in an SUV, but the latter was pulled over by traffic police at Craig County’s stop.
After seeing that the SUV had suddenly halted and hadn’t been moving for a while, Bryan stopped and got out of the truck to see what was taking so long. He then approached the Oklahoma Highway Patrol Officer Ben Bertram and asked him what was wrong.
However, Bertram instructed Bryan to get back into the truck a couple of times so as not to interfere with his investigation, but the latter refused to do that. Even after warning Bryan that he would be going to jail if he doesn’t comply, Bryan responded with, “I’ll go to jail, let’s do it.”
During the arrest, Bryan even cursed at the police officer for handcuffing him for no reason and exclaimed that’s exactly why people don’t like police officers. According to the news outlets, Bryan told Bertram, “If you don’t let me out of handcuffs, it is going to be a mistake, sir. I promise.”
Furthermore, he was enraged by the fact that it happened two times in three days and swore in front of the cops, “This is the second time this has happened in three days. These f—— cops are out of control.”
Apparently, he was pulled over by another cop in the town of Vinta for going a little over the speed limit, so the cop probed him for his address, which he thought was a little unfair.
How Did Zach Bryan Respond After the Incident?
Following his alleged arrest of obstructing an ongoing investigation, Bryan apologized by posting a five-minute video on his verified account on X, claiming he was on the wrong side and did not intend to offend Bertram. Here are the summarized words from the video.
“Today, I had an incident with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol. Emotions got the best of me, and I was out of line in the things I said. I support law enforcement as much as anyone can. I was just frustrated at the moment; it was unlike me, and I apologize.”
“They brought me to jail, and there is a mug shot of me floating around. Prayers we can all move on from this and prayers people know I’m just trying the best I can, I love you guys, and I am truly sorry to the officers.”
So, what do you make of this incident? Did Bryan deserve to be arrested for simply inquiring about why the cop stopped his security guard?
